thank you so much for sharing this ♥ you did a wonderful job, and it's only with experimenting that we learn so don't think of it as a failure (even though it's not!) try and see it as another step forward
i don't know if it helps though, but i always find it better when i have a piece that i really don't like how it turned out, to put it away for the night and go back to it the next day. Thats the only way i end up finishing most of my pieces, i get too frustrated sometimes with how it feels like i 'bodged it up' xD some reason things seem better when you've had space from it and then build on it a little if you feel it needs it.
(all else fails and then i abuse white gel pen and glitter xD arg.. bad habit)
Also if you can though one day, if you do bump into cheap watercolour paper (though i guess you have to be careful with the kinds you get..) it's really worth experimenting on and seeing if you like it or not would gladly post some to you if you ever wished and felt okay with that, would be ATC sized though - 2.5'' x 3.5'' (i cut up a large pad so i could make atc cards ^^ eek..) I had a lot of mess ups using normal copy paper - water seems to dry way to quickly and it's too difficult for me, and very low quality watercolour paper likes to disintergrate worse than copy paper :s but if you manage to get any thats about 300gsm it's a lot of fun, and blending is that much easier ahh sorry for the ramble, just it made a lot of difference to me (i'm currently learning to watercolour too)
